Framework

* Aluminium - Though wood is beautiful, aluminium frames are long lasting and maintenance-free.
* Painted Aluminium or Anodised Aluminium ? The appearance will be good and the material can retain the colour and looks for many years.

Glazing

* Tempered safety glass
* Opal or Twinwall
* TripleWall
* Opal roof or Twinwall, Glass walls

Foundation

* Timbers treated with pressure (especially for a small greenhouse of 200 sq.ft in area)
* Concrete/block base wall
* Concrete slab/tile

Note: Outside dimensions of greenhouse foundation are given under "Actual Sizes" on the price charts.

Floor

You may need a walkway running through the middle of your greenhouse if you have not used concrete slabs for floor. First, use a fabric (#2380) for laying over the entire floor of your greenhouse. Then frame the walkway with treated 2 x 4 lumber, lay down 2" of crushed rock, then 1" of sand, and set the bricks with 3/8" spacing. A final touch might be to plant lemon thyme between the bricks! Finish the remainder of the floor with 2" of pea gravel.

* Concrete slab/tile ? a smooth tile will be slippery, hence make it rough and make provisions for drainage.
