Types of Greenhouse based on StructureWhen you
consider the structures involved in any greenhouse, then there are three
types. They are: * Detached type * Gutter Connected or Ridge and Furrow type Lean-to type Greenhouse Many hobbyists go for this type of greenhouses. This Lean-to type of greenhouses are not very popular because of its size restrictions and are rarely used for commercial purposes. Detached type Greenhouse As the name suggests, detached type greenhouses are standalone structures and are not dependent on any other structures. However, there may be a passageway leading to another greenhouse or the greenhouse may be attached to another work area for operational convenience. In commercial category of greenhouses, the Quonset type is a very popular type of detached greenhouse. Arched rafters are used against a solid wall support in building a Quonset greenhouse. Quonset greenhouses are ideal for producing most crops, although the growing area is limited to the areas around the sidewalls, resulting in reduction of efficiency and productivity. Ridge and Furrow Greenhouse Ridge and
furrow greenhouses are attached at the lower edges of the roof by a
gutter. There is no inside wall below the gutter and this particular
feature allows for increased efficiency. You can use garbled or curved
arches in building ridge and furrow greenhouses. Gabled houses are appropriate
for heavy coverings such as glass or fiberglass, while curved arch houses
are covered with lighter materials such as polyethylene or polycarbonates. | Reasons for purchasing a Greenhouse | Resources for enthusiasts of Greenhouse Websites | Some of the useful Tips for Greenhouse | Space requirements for certain crops | Tools and materials needed for Greenhouse | Types of Erection for Greenhouses | Types of Greenhouse Available | Types of Greenhouse based on Structure | Understanding Greenhouse | Watering System for your Greenhouse |
